A Tribute To Wen Qi

For being the rock of UGS.

The BBQ ends with a hug. I think it was a fitting farewell for Wen Qi.

For being a friend to all those who needed her.

Andrew has a dedication to her here. She has listened to all of us, never interrupting, usually spot on with her observations. I can only hope we've been the same for her.

For being stubbornly loyal to Xanga.

I have absolutely no idea why she still sticks to that dying platform. It makes commenting so difficult! Chocolates when you move over to Blogger, Wen!

For being admin.

One of the four. Here's to deleting spam bots and breathing life into web conversations.

For laughing at all our jokes.

Especially when they're lame.

For blushing while she laughs.

Like tomato, you know?

God bless, Wen. Wherever you may go.

I Ungoogled Myself

Today I took my blog down from Google. Inserted a nofollow noindex meta tag at the header of my blog, thus removing me from (most) search engines.

At least, I hope it does.

This was prompted by a little something that happened to me three weeks ago. I did a prefectorial board post that ruffled some feathers in St Thomas's (nevermind that it spoke the truth) and was asked to censor myself.

I didn't like that. I didn't like that one bit.

St Thomas's in so many ways reflect the current Malaysian government.

I don't slander. I don't yell or rant or let-off-steam in my blog (without flair and organization). If I do I probably make it sound good, and back it up with that fair maiden called Logic.

Anyways, I didn't Ungoogle this blog for just the prefectorial board post. I did it because two days after, a teacher found me. By Googling 'Eli James Prefectorial Board St Thomas', no less.

She then regaled me with every single blog post I wrote since 2004. So I pulled up my sleeves and ...

Zap.

Goodbye Google. Goodbye rankings. Hello personal space.

PS: Blog links in this blog no longer contribute to your technorati rankings. I apologize, but I can't see any other way out. I am sorry.
